Q. What is the Student Plan?
Individual university and college students can learn job-ready skills with free access to unlimited Guided Projects and a free course.
Q. What is the Basic Plan?
Universities and colleges administrators, department heads, and faculty can better serve and prepare their students with free access to unlimited Guided Projects and one free course per student per year.
Q. What is the Institution Plan?
Universities and college administrators, department heads, and faculty can teach their students in-demand skills with credit-ready, online learning from the world’s leading institutions.
Q. Is documentation available to guide me through the admin and learner platforms?
Both Administrator and Learner guides are available here.
Q. What is the difference between a course, a Specialization, and a Professional Certificate?
A course is a single academic topic learners may enroll in to attain knowledge in that specific subject area.
A Specialization is a series of related courses designed to help learners master a specific topic. Some shorter Specializations include as few as three courses and only take a few months to finish. Longer Specializations can include ten or more courses and take up to a year.
Professional Certificate programs on Coursera are programs that let you earn a professional certificate from the institution providing the course content for that program. A Professional Certificate:
- Confirms that you have successfully completed the Professional Certificate program
- Is issued by the institution that developed the program, not Coursera
- Provides professional certification that may be recognized by another organization or school.
Q. Are Coursera for Campus Basic plan administrators eligible to receive support from the Coursera Support team?
Administrators will have access to the Enterprise Help Center, this Basic plan FAQ and in-product notifications that will help guide them through the platform.
Q. How many licenses will I receive in my Coursera for Campus Basic plan?
Each Basic plan account will receive 20,000 free licenses.
Q. We have consumed all 20,000 free licenses. How can I request for more licenses?
20,000 licenses is the maximum number of licenses allowed for a Coursera for Campus Basic plan. Administrators will not be able to request for additional free licenses.
Q. What are the different Administrator roles and what are their differences?
There are two different Administrator roles: Organization Admin and Program Admin.
Q. I no longer see the Analytics tab. Can I have this tab back?
We are unable to reinstate admin rights to the Organization Admin level. If multiple members from the same institution request access for their respective student/faculty groups, Coursera accommodates by creating additional programs in the same organization instance, adding each requester as the Program Admin of their respective program, and changing any Organization Admins to Program Admins.
There are two levels of admins: Organization Admin and Program Admin. Organization Admins have access to the Users, Messages, and Analytics tabs and have access to all data tied to all programs in the account. Program Admins have access to the Users and Messages tabs and only have access to the program they are the administrator of. Should an Organization Admin’s institution request for more than one program, Coursera will update the Organization Admin’s permissions to Program Admin level where they will continue to have access to all data associated with the program they requested. This change is made in order to protect student data. We are working to have the Analytics tab made available to Program Admins in the future.
Q. How can I add additional admins to my instance in the Coursera for Campus Basic plan?
Organization-level admins can add as many additional admins to their instance as desired. If you are an Organization-level admin, please see this article with step-by-step instructions on how to add additional admins: Exploring the Administrators sub-tab. Note: The Administrators sub-tab is only available to Organization-level admins.
Program-level admins cannot add additional admins to their program at this time. We are working to have this function made available in the future. If more Admins are required, please submit a request via the “submit a request” link at the bottom of this article. Please include the Admin’s first and last name and email address in the request. Please note that this person must already have a Coursera account registered to their organization email.
Q. What is a Learning Program?
This is where a group of invited learners have access to a catalog of courses. Each "Learning Program" has a dedicated catalog of courses that only learners invited to join that program can access.
Q. How can I reinstate a deleted Learning Program?
When a Coursera for Campus Basic plan instance is launched, Coursera creates one Learning Program for the instance. Deleting a Learning Program cannot be undone. With the Basic plan, Coursera will not be able to reinstate nor create a new Learning Program should it be deleted.
Q. How can I get reports and data about my learning program?
Administrators can see detailed data about their members by generating an Email Report. For more information, please see this article: Get reports and data about your learning program.
Q. The External IDs in my Email Usage Reports are blank. How can I include an External ID in these reports?
Support to update External ID is unavailable under the Coursera for Campus Basic plan. To ensure External ID is captured, please include this when inviting the learner to the program. Please see this help article for step-by-step instructions on how to invite learners: Send invitations individually or in bulk.
Q. How do I remove learners and invitees from my learning program?
Please see this help article for step-by-step instructions on how to remove learners and invitees from within the Manage Learners sub-tab: Removing learners and invitations.
Please see this help article for step-by-step instructions on how to remove learners and invitees when navigating to the Learner list from the Users homepage: Removing learners and invitations.
Q. How can I send a message to my learners?
Administrators are able to send messages to a specific population of learners. For more information, please see this article: Send a message to learners.
Q. How can I download a Learning Program’s curriculum?
Support to download a Learning Program’s curriculum is unavailable under the Coursera for Campus Basic plan. To view a Learning Program’s curriculum, navigate to a Learning Program and click on the “Catalog” sub-tab.
Q. Why am I seeing some content that has a fee to enroll?
Coursera for Campus’ Student plan and the Basic plan includes free access to most of the catalog of courses and certificate programs available on the Coursera platform. A small portion of the catalog is not part of the initiative, and if learners navigate to that content, they will be able to view the corresponding fees before purchasing access.
If learners are seeing a prompt to pay before enrolling, we suggest:
- Checking to make sure they are logged into the correct Coursera account by visiting their Settings page from the menu on the upper right
- Confirming that the course they are trying to enroll into is eligible under their program
- Using the menu on the upper left to switch to their program dashboard
Q. Are the courses, Specializations, or Professional Certificates worth academic credit?
Courses, Specializations, or Professional Certificates that are part of the Initiative offering are not-for-credit. Some accredited institutions may offer academic credit in connection with the completion of offerings like those made available in the Initiative program. If you are interested in learning more about academic credit, you should contact the accredited institution that you are interested in directly to discuss their policies for recognizing prior learning for credit.
Q. What can Learners expect to get when they complete a Course, Specialization, or Certificate Program?
Q. Who is eligible to sign up for the Coursera for Campus Basic plan?
The Coursera for Campus Basic plan is designed to be used by higher education institutions and students to serve a class or an entire campus.
Q. What happens after I submit the interest form for the Coursera for Campus Basic plan?
After you submit the interest form using your institution email address, you must log into Coursera to complete your request process. If you do not yet have a Coursera account using that email address, then you must create a new account. We will inform you within two business days whether or not your application is approved. If approved, we will follow up with more information on how to get started to support your teaching and learning needs. Please note that this plan is intended for university and college administrators, department heads, and faculty.
Q. My institution submitted a request to gain access to a program and I haven’t heard back. When can I expect to receive a follow-up?
Our goal is to bring Coursera for Campus instances live as quickly as possible. Depending on the volume of requests, we will work to launch your instance as soon as possible.
Q. If I’m a current admin user of the Coursera Campus Response Initiative that launched in March 2020, what will happen to my account?
Starting on October 1, 2020 and over the course of that week, admin accounts will migrate to a Coursera for Campus Basic plan account. Students will have two months to finish any courses that they had enrolled in on or prior to September 30, 2020, after which students will be unenrolled from any courses they have not completed. If you are interested in continuing to have access to our unlimited catalog of courses, please consider upgrading to our enterprise-level Institution plan.
Q. Why did the Coursera Campus Response Initiative end?
In response to COVID-19, we launched the Coursera Campus Response Initiative on March 12, 2020, and it ended on September 30, 2020. In an effort to continue supporting universities and colleges in educating their students, we have launched a new Basic plan option for Coursera for Campus beginning October 1, 2020. This new plan is a long-term, free offering for universities and colleges globally. We look forward to continuing to offer assistance to our fellow educators and deliver on our mission and promise to help students everywhere get access to the world’s best education.
Q. Are there any international restrictions?
We value our global community, and we deeply regret the need to withhold services from anyone in order to remain in compliance with US law. Our team is continually exploring options to expand access and we hope one day to offer unrestricted access throughout the world. For more information, go here.
Q. Is there more information you can provide regarding the Coursera for Campus Basic plan?
