Most questions about the learner experience for Coursera courses are answered in our Learner Help Center.
Frequently asked questions
For answers to some of our most common questions, check these articles:
Hardware requirements
People can create their Coursera account and enroll in courses from any device with internet access. To verify their identity, learners will need to use a computer with a webcam, or an Android or iOS device with a camera and the Coursera app installed.
Once learners are enrolled, they can watch videos and do most assessments using their computer or a mobile device with the Coursera app (iOS/Android).
Some courses, like advanced programming courses, may have additional hardware requirements. Make sure you check the Course Description Page for courses in your program to see if there are any additional requirements your learners may need support with.
Time commitment
You can see estimated time commitments for a course on the course home page. Learners may end up devoting more or less time depending on prerequisites and other factors. Learners can also preview the first week's worth of material before enrolling.
Course certificates
To earn a Course Certificate, people in your program will need to complete all assignments in a course with verification, and pay for that course using your company's credit.
Transfer accounts
When you remove people from a program, they can use their recovery password (or the password reset process) to log into their Coursera accounts and change their account email address to a different one. They cannot transfer their Course Certificates or other Coursera records to a different Coursera account.
When you remove people from your program, they will no longer have access to the program. Any incomplete enrollments will be automatically downgraded to audit mode. Their course progress will be maintained, and they can pay for the course themselves if they want to earn a Course Certificate.
Removing people from your program will not change the historical data in your data report.
